The Crosscall brand announces both its intention to manufacture its smartphones in France and the extension to five years of the warranty affixed to its products. This particularly benefits its very recent Action-X5.

How the pricing table works

Few manufacturers offer rugged terminals. Among the main ones, the British Bullitt, which operates the Cat license, or Samsung, whose Xcover range benefits from its wide reputation. In France, the Crosscall brand is positioned in the segment of terminals dedicated to professionals working outdoors, but also to athletes.

We recently tested the Action-X5, the latest rugged smartphone from the French brand. The device, like its elders, benefited from a three-year manufacturer’s warranty when it was released. This has now been extended, announces Crosscall, to five years: this measure, which also concerns the Core-M5 and its future terminals, “will cover all components, including the battery”. Note that, on this point, the brand joins the best-selling manufacturer on this subject, Fairphone, whose model stamped 4 also benefits from a five-year guarantee. It also improves its durability score, applied by Digital smartphones since the end of 2021. Competing devices, on the other hand, offer two years of warranty, as required by law.

The local challenge

To better distinguish itself, Crosscall is taking on new challenges. The brand won a call for tenders from the Ministry of the Interior in March 2021, which materializes today. It is thus deploying a fleet of some 230,000 smartphones from its Core-X4 (Neo) range with the gendarmerie and the national police. A certainly lucrative contract for the company, which had distinguished itself by winning another contract in 2019 with the SNCF, but for a much lower amount: 21,000 terminals to equip the controllers of the public railway company, i.e. a contract at around 8 million euros.

And as noted Le Figaro, it is in France that the brand intends to manufacture its smartphones, which since its inception has established its specifications from its headquarters in Aix-en-Provence, and tests the durability of its products there. She counts “acquire the know-how that [lui] lack” by creating a site dedicated to the repair and reconditioning of its devices, indicates the vice-president of the brand, David Eberlé. A factory will follow, expected by 2025, the installation of which is in progress. A unique project in France.
