Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon travels a lot for work. His wife Mette-Marit almost always accompanies him – a great privilege for him.

Crown Prince Haakon of Norway (50) is grateful for the collaboration with his wife, Crown Princess Mette-Marit (50). They are a good team and complement each other well, said the royal to the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung.” The couple will travel to Germany next week with government representatives and a business delegation. Munich, Hamburg and Berlin are on the agenda – but the Crown Princess will only join them in Berlin.

“It’s also nice to share experiences with someone who is so close to me,” says Haakon from Norway. In his eyes, his everyday working life is “both normal and a little unusual”. He regularly meets “many knowledgeable, friendly and committed people from all over Norway and other parts of the world,” said the heir to the Norwegian throne. He is all the more pleased to have his Crown Princess with him on his many trips.

The royal couple separated in the past

The Norwegian Crown Prince revealed to journalist Kjetil S. Østli that he and his wife had been separated for a time. In his book “Haakon – historier om en tronarving” (German: “Haakon – Stories about an heir to the throne”), the journalist writes that the couple met in 1999, but separated again in the autumn of the same year when the royal was with the UN. Delegation traveled to the United States. “Before I left, we decided not to be together anymore,” Haakon confessed.

But it did not stop. After his return trip, the couple found each other again. “It was a good time, a very good time,” remembers the Crown Prince. In 2001, Haakon married the woman of his dreams. The two have two children together: Princess Ingrid Alexandra (19) and Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway (18).
