“Still only reduced activities”

The Norwegian royal family will continue to have to forego the use of Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
Concern for Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit (50) does not diminish. It wasn’t until mid-September that the 50-year-old had to cancel a trip to Sweden and several appointments in her home country due to health problems. Now a palace spokeswoman has given another update that doesn’t bode well.
As Guri Varpe, head of communications at the royal palace, As the Norwegian daily newspaper “Dagbladet” explains, Mette-Marit will continue to step back in the future: “The Crown Princess will continue to have reduced activities and has no official program planned for this week or the autumn holidays.”
Prince Haakon travels alone through Norway
In mid-September it was said in one official statement from the palace, that the Crown Princess, who suffers from chronic pulmonary fibrosis, was “on sick leave from September 13th on the advice of her doctor.” Initially, a period of two weeks was planned, which “but could be extended”. The 50-year-old was originally supposed to attend Sweden’s King Carl Gustaf (77) travels to Stockholm. However, nothing came of it.
A planned tour through the Norwegian province of Vestland has also been canceled: from September 26th to 28th, she and Crown Prince Haakon wanted to visit several municipalities there. The prince now had to complete these appointments alone or with the support of other members of the Norwegian royal family.
Diagnosis was made in 2018
What is really going on with Mette-Marit’s health is not publicly known. The Crown Princess was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, a chronic lung disease, in 2018. Since then, she has only carried out her royal duties to a limited extent.
