THE SSD in PCI Express Gen 5 are spreading little by little and in the game of the fastest, Crucial intends to regain its first place. Quickly.
Officially, Crucial has not yet announced a “big brother” for the T700 SSD, its first PCI Express Gen 5 model and, upon its release almost a year ago, the fastest on the market.
However, it seems that Crucial already has a model called T705 in its pipeline. A very small change in reference for even higher performance with 15 GB/s in sight.

The T705 is therefore not only a reality of which we should soon have proper formalization, but it also sets the record straight and – undoubtedly – gives Crucial back the crown of the fastest M.2 SSD in PCI Express Gen 5.
Indeed, Crucial seems to be heading towards speeds of 14.5 GB/s in sequential reading and another 12.7 GB/s in sequential writing for the 2 TB version of the T705, which will be faster than the 1 TB and 4 TB .
Which controller at the heart of the SSD?
Crucial would therefore have the idea of marketing three variations of its future “racer” with, it is still rare, a maximum capacity of 4 TB. In all cases, it is a question of Micron TLC 232 layers memory.
However, we currently have no details as to the controller retained by Crucial. We also don’t know how the DRAM cache will be managed and what level of write endurance is expected. Finally, last unknowns neither the date nor the price of these SSDs have been mentioned.
Note, however, that the leak also indicates that a special version of the SSD will be offered with an all-white heatsink. With so many details and even if some key information is missing, we can assume that Crucial will not wait too long to make all of this official.
