On May 7, 2024, Apple is expected to unveil new iPad Pros equipped with Oled screens. According to analyst Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), Apple would not have skimped on the quality of the panels.

According to rumors, Apple could finally adopt OLED technology for its high-end tablets.
According to analyst Ross Young, Apple has chosen LG Display as the exclusive supplier for the iPad Pro’s Oled screens. A small victory for LG Display over leader Samsung Display, which was unable to meet Apple’s requirements.
Indeed, Samsung would have encountered problems optimizing its Oled design, which could have delayed the launch of the new iPad Pros. Apple therefore preferred to turn to LG Display so as not to jeopardize its launch schedule.
OLED, LTPO, 120 Hz
According to Ross Young, the new iPad Pros will be equipped with 11.1 and 12.9 inch Oled screens, with LTPO technology allowing a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hertz.
Through design tandem stack and special techniques for a particularly fine design, the panels will be ultra-thin and light, while offering high brightness, reduced consumption and a longer lifespan. The iPad Pro’s Oled screens will therefore be the best products of their kind to date, according to the analyst.
Still according to Ross Young, Apple will unveil a total of four new tablets during its event on Tuesday. In addition to the new iPad Pros with Oled displays, there will also be two new iPad Air models, each with a 10.0-inch screen and, for the first time, a 12.9-inch screen inches. However, LCD screens will apparently still be used in these models.
Oled, always the same problems
Although Oled screens are a significant improvement over LCD screens, and even Mini LED technology, it should be noted that this technology is more expensive to produce. It is therefore possible that the new iPad Pros will be more expensive than current models.
Additionally, it remains to be seen whether using Oled displays on large tablets will lead to screen burn-in issues, as has been the case with some products. Finally, Oled has now become popular on a multitude of products, including laptops (Asus, Samsung, etc.) and tablets (Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo, etc.).
