Stephen King is one of the most successful horror authors of the last decades. He has been causing sleepless nights with his stories for years, and film adaptations such as “Carrie”, “Misery” and “Cemetery of the Cuddly Toys” have had a lasting influence on horror cinema. One of his best-known stories, which has been filmed several times, is the one about the killer clown Pennywise, who is up to mischief in the city of Derry.

On March 28th, 2024 the horror film “It” will be shown on free TV on kabel eins. At prime time at 8:15 p.m., the “Losers’ Club” faces off against the killer clown Pennywise and tries to save their city from him. Immediately afterwards, the sequel “ES: Chapter 2” will air at 11 p.m. on kabel eins.

The “It” film series

In 1990, Stephen King’s story about the horror clown was filmed for the first time by director Tommy Lee Wallace as a two-part miniseries for ABC. In 2017, “It” was released by director Andrés Muschietti with Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise/It. In 2019 he returned in “It: Chapter 2”. In addition, the planned HBO series “Welcome To Derry”, which does not yet have a start date, will be about the backstory of the horror clown Pennywise.
