Heinevetter celebrates his “Rostbratwurst” coup

Silvio Heinevetter ends his great career at home. The former national goalkeeper announced his move to ThSV Eisenach in a humorous way. The 39-year-old was known for his spectacular saves as well as his emotional nature.

He left the fans in the dark for around four hours – then Silvio Heinevetter himself announced the transfer news for the handball winter. In his own personal, humorous way. “Rotbratwurst instead of Maultaschen. Schwarzbier instead of cider,” wrote the legendary goalkeeper on Instagram and posted a picture of him biting into a grilled sausage in a bun. In front of him is a tube of medium-hot Born mustard from Thuringia.

“It still tastes best at home,” commented Heinevetter. His move from TVB Stuttgart back to his hometown to ThSV Eisenach next summer is a bit of a bang. The long-time national goalkeeper signed a non-league two-year contract as a player with the second-to-last team in the table, around 35 kilometers from his birthplace of Bad Langensalza. According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, there will be a follow-up contract in the ThSV’s marketing department until 2029.

“This is a big deal!”

“It’s come full circle for me. As a little boy, I went to ThSV games in the hall with my parents, and now I can finally change in the home locker room,” said Heinevetter. When TVB Stuttgart announced on Thursday afternoon that the 39-year-old keeper had rejected a contract extension, many people were puzzled. In the evening Heinevetter let the cat out of the bag. “This is a big deal! It’s a clear sign that we want to develop further,” said Eisenach’s managing director Rene Witte.

Heinevetter is quite a colorful dog in German handball. His career began at 1. SV Concordia Delitzsch. He finally ended up in Stuttgart in 2022 via the stations SC Magdeburg, Füchse Berlin and MT Melsungen. His qualities are still undisputed: Heinevetter was on call during the home European Championships, which the DHB team finished fourth last week. His greatest success in the 206 international matches so far was the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Heinevetter is notorious for his spectacular parades, during which he still likes to lie sideways in the air. In addition, throughout his long and successful career, he always provided the best entertainment with his emotional manner on the field and his relaxed, candid sayings outside of it. This type of entertainment plus a certain glamor factor will be available in Eisenach in the future.
