Hans Sigl’s fans must be prepared for his farewell to the “mountain doctor”. The actor has spoken of it again.

Since 2008, Hans Sigl (53) has played the title role in the cult series “Der Bergdoktor” (ZDF). The Austrian actor has now confirmed again that this role will eventually come to an end for him. For the TV format “Short haul with Pierre M. Krause” (SWR) he gave host Pierre M. Krause (46) an insight into his life near Lake Ammer during a walk together.

Among other things, it was about Sigl’s future as a “mountain doctor” actor. “Of course I can say I’ll play the role until I retire, but that’s not the case because I don’t want to do it. The ‘Bergdoktor’ can be 70, but mine won’t,” explains the actor before the two boarded a steamer on the Bavarian lake.

Hans Sigl: “I’m not saying I’ll quit tomorrow, but…”

There is a life for him before, with and after the “mountain doctor,” he said. After that he will play a different role or just do readings. “I’m not saying that I’ll stop with this role tomorrow, but if the time comes at some point, then those involved will know soon enough that it’s foreseeable, because a successor has to be found, the stories have to go there be written and I have to think about what I feel like doing afterwards.”

Already at the beginning of the year, Hans Sigl formulated his hint of an approaching farewell in an interview with the magazine “Gala”: “I will not retire with Martin,” he said at the time. But now the next season is coming up.

When is the 17th season “Der Bergdoktor” coming?

The last episode of the 16th season of the doctor series “Der Bergdoktor” was broadcast on ZDF at the end of February.

The 17th season has already been shot in the Wilder Kaiser region. The new episodes should start around the turn of the year as usual. In addition to Sigl, Ronja Forcher, Heiko Ruprecht, Monika Baumgartner, Natalie O’Hara, Andrea Gerhard, Mark Keller and Rebecca Immanuel will also be there.
