Thirteen years later, this wonderful romance returns to anime with a third season scheduled for release this year on Netflix.
Love lasts thirteen years
Thirteen years is the time that has passed since the broadcast of the very last episode of the second season of Sawakoanime from the eponymous manga also known as Kimi ni todoke. Thirteen years later, this wonderful love story between the discreet Sawako and the charming Shôta is finally preparing to resume with the upcoming release of a third season directly following the very last episodes broadcast in 2011. And good news, we should find the same team behind this new burst of episodes. The casting remains unchanged and it is still the Production IG studio which will work on the animation. Netflix, which already holds the broadcast rights to the first two seasons, will broadcast the third exclusively.
After 37 episodes divided between the first two seasons, the anime then stopped at chapter 46 of the manga. This third season must therefore resume in chapter 47, without us knowing exactly where it will end. In the meantime, Netflix has shared a recap of around thirteen minutes to remember the previous events.

Originally published in the monthly Bessatsu Margaret between 2005 and 2017, Sawako tells the story of the eponymous character, a shy young girl, often mocked by her classmates because of her physique which recalls that of Sadako, the ghostly young girl from movie Ring. Sawako struggles to flourish, at least until she meets Shôta, a boy adored by her peers. The two high school students will gradually become closer and discover new facets of themselves.
As shown in the latest trailer unveiled by Netflix, this new season should finally get to the heart of the matter. Sawako and Shôta now form a couple and our heroine will then try to understand what this implies and means. We obviously can’t wait to see these endearing characters again who are now meeting us next August.
