After the disaster of the horror film Winnie the Pooh, another character will be put in the spotlight… and it’s not for the best.

Shortly after the first Winnie the Pooh book entered the public domain, a horror film was announced. Unsurprisingly, this announcement caused a stir on social networks, since it is an emblematic figure of childhood characters. Disney no longer holds the exclusive rights to Winnie and his companions, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield took the opportunity to make a horrific feature film, deliberately setting itself apart from everything that was related to this bear in the past. Released in July 2023 in France, it does not benefit from the praise of the public and the specialized press…Far from it! Many believe that the filmmaker relied entirely on the notoriety of this character, and was not invested in the rest of the film. Beyond the controversies linked to this production, some would have preferred that the director work more on the dialogues or even the acting.

Far from having finished with characters linked to childhood, other projects are under development. In 2022 a Bambi film was announced, then Peter-Pan in a feature film called Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare and Cinderella in May 2023. Vou will have understood, Rhys Frake-Waterfield has found a real vocation in horror films of this style, and it seems far from over! Recently, a film about Pinocchio was officially announced.

A Pinocchio horror film

While neither Bambi: The Reckoning nor Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare have seen the light of day, another film linked to childhood characters has been announced. It is therefore the turn of Pinocchio to be entitled to a cinematographic adaptation which turns towards horror. An image was revealed for the occasion, where it is possible to see this character with a look that is frightening to say the least. According to the Bloody Disgusting website, the casting will be announced shortly this year. For the moment, the director is focusing on the sequel to Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, the horror film of Winnie the Pooh which should see the light of day within a few months. In other words, we have no more information on this project than on other productions with emblematic Disney characters.
