Nobody saw it coming: the video game album Final Fantasy VII Rebirth rose to first place on iTunes. The music remained at the top of the playlist for 6 days, ahead of Beyoncé and Coldplay.
Many of the musics of Final Fantasy are iconic. The theme of Sephiroth, the music of battles or even these trumpets of victory at the end of a battle, Square Enix pays particular attention to sounds. These are normally used to improve immersion in a game. However, for almost a week, this music was listened to around the world on iTunessurpassing Beyoncé or even Adele.

Everyone who has played a game Final Fantasy are able to hum you a melody. No matter the opus, no matter how much time has passed, this music stays in your head. They are numerous and yet each one more interesting than the other.
But the music of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are still above all that. They took the ears of the whole world by storm for six days. Madonna, Daft Punk, Ed Sheeran and even Beyoncé couldn’t do anything about this album called “FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH Original Soundtrack (Preview Version) – EP“. The five songs by Nobuo Uematsu, the composer, were specially chosen to reflect the diverse emotions and musical styles of the album.
More than music
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been given all-new music compared to the original 1997 title. Many of them are not simple improvements, but are indeed completely new. Although we recognize the original music, this modified music has charmed more than one person. The five tracks that make up the album are a real success, but it was undoubtedly a publicity stunt!
Indeed, Square Enix cannot put all the music in the game for free on streaming platforms. It was therefore very recently that a much longer album was released for pre-order. It contains no less than 175 songs. Available since April 10, sales of the 7 CDs of the soundtrack are available for the sum of 65 euros. Pre-orders are on the website Square Enix, but the special edition is already no longer available. You will have to go through other sites like Fnac if you want the physical version.
