For more than three days, the French speedrunning scene was in turmoil under the leadership of MisterMV and the teams organizing the SpeeDons event. This year, the charity marathon has relocated to Lyon. Although the location was no longer the same, the enthusiasm was still as strong, if not even more so! Broadcast on Twitch throughout the weekend, SpeeDons once again experienced immense mobilization, surpassing the record of the previous edition. In the end, there are no less than 2,066,663 euros which were collected in favor of Médecins du monde, i.e. 750,000 euros more than last year ! Between Returnal, Baldur’s Gate 3 or The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomthe viewers and spectators present had a great time, to the point of exploding the prize pool: Congratulations to them and to the performances achieved on site!
Solo Leveling, we will have to expect even more action: the phenomenon is only just beginning
During the last weeks, the adaptation of the webtoon / manwha Solo Leveling is emulated among anime fans. Particularly anticipated, this first season meets the expectations of the community and, every Saturday, more and more anime fans follow the evolution and rise to power of Sung Jinwoo. Yet entangled in a small controversy – the spectators were not really happy to discover that episode 7.5 was a recap of the events of the beginning of the week -, one of the hosts of Solo Leveling is in the process of rectifying the situation. As part of an interview for Animate Timesproducer Atsushi Kaneko explained that the “ action scenes will become more and more exciting », even if it is not the most important: the meetings, battles and farewells will also be essential!
Dune 2 becomes the box office messiah: 200 million almost reached in one week
The release of Dune, Part 2 is creating a veritable sandstorm at the box office. After a few gloomy months for international cinema, the second part of Denis Villeneuve’s franchise makes a clean sweep of all that and is currently breathing new life into the box office ! For its first weekend of operation, Dune, Part 2 made a real hit by raising no less than $178.5 million worldwide ! The figures are indeed more than encouraging since they exceed expectations and should continue this momentum in the days to come. In France, the film signs the best start of the year and, according to recent estimates, has already crossed the threshold of one million entries in just five days !
The Crunchyroll Anime Awards overwhelmingly voted for season 2… of Jujutsu Kaisen
In terms of Japanese animation, the year 2023 was a great year, following the same trajectory as video games! With such an observation, it was to be expected that the Crunchyroll Anime Awards ceremony would be the scene of a real battle. Between the new releases and the returns of particularly anticipated series, the competition was fierce. However, there is an anime that flew through this war by grabbing no less than ten different awards: this series is none other than season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen ! Despite this favorite status, there are other candidates in the running who have not been unworthy by grabbing a few distinctions, like Demon Slayer And Chainsaw Man.
Venom 3 reveals a potential clue about its connection with Disney’s MCU
With a very low global box office score of $91 million in revenue (for $80 million invested), Madame Web failed to boost the universe Marvel from Sony Pictures. However, not all cartridges were fired and there remains, among other things, the release of the film Kraven – which will perhaps find its audience thanks to the presence of this villain in the game Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – as well as the third feature film Venom.
To put all the chances on its side, this new episode could reach out to MCU of Disney as evidenced by a small detail from one of the recent set photos. In this case, we can see Tom Hardy (who plays Eddie Brock) with the same t-shirt that he wore in the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
