It will surely not have escaped you that the era of nostalgia has hit us hard for several years now. In 2024, a cult saga from the 80s returns for a sequel, and you can even find an MCU actor there!

When Marvel meets Stranger Things

Star Wars, Terminator, Karate Kid… Many cult licenses that appeared in the 1980s have already started to return to the forefront in recent years, and everything seems to indicate that this is not about to stop. If this return generally takes place in the form of a reboot, it still happens that the cinema of the present attempts to bring that of the past to life by granting a sequel to these legendary sagas. One of the most legendary sagas of the 1980s was also entitled to both treatments, since Ghostbusters has benefited from both a reboot and a sequel in recent years. Indeed, in 2016, the saga first went through a reboot with a predominantly female cast composed of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Unfortunately, this version was not really exceptional and fans of the original saga were not really satisfied.

In 2021, however, the Ghostbusters saga finally returned to theaters thanks to an authentic sequel, even if it didn’t exactly put the original cast at the center of its plot. Called Ghostbusters: Legacy, this sequel preferred to call on new blood by telling in particular the story of Trevor and Phoebe, grandchildren of Egon Spengler, one of the main characters of the original saga. So, even if it is a sequel, the cult Ghostbusters team has still been completely remade to highlight four other actors and actresses, including Finn Wolfhard from Stranger Things And Paul Rudd from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If you liked the first two installments of the saga and you are not against a new team, we strongly advise you to give Ghostbusters: The Legacy a chance, which brilliantly captured the original essence while bringing a real breath of fresh air. And the best part is that a sequel is coming in 2024.

A chilling sequel for the return of this cult saga

If you liked discovering the official sequel to Ghostbusters in 2021, you will be able to do it again this year! Indeed, the Ghostbusters saga will have a fourth official opusand the latter is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 10, 2024 In France. Baptized Ghostbusters: The Ice Menace, it will resume directly after the events of Ghostbusters: Legacy. This means that you will once again be able to follow the adventures of the new team of ghost hunters made up of Trevor Spengler (Finn Wolfhard), Phoebe Spengler (Mckenna Grace), Lucky Domingo (Celeste O’Connor), Podcast (Logan Kim) and Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd). Just yesterday, a new trailer (which you can discover in our automatic player at the top of the article) was revealed in which we can also see the former members of the team played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd And Ernie Hudson.

If it is not made by the same person, this sequel will still have Gil Kenan at his head. The latter had already worked on the previous opus as screenwriter and producer, everything therefore suggests that The Menace of Ice will keep the same spirit. To push nostalgia to its maximum, the new team will now take place at new York instead of Oklahoma from the previous opus. The opportunity to find the iconic fire station from the original filmsbut also to raise the stakes thanks to an adversary who risks destroying the world if they do not stop him in time. If you want to discover this new opus of the Ghostbusters saga, all you have to do is go to the cinema from April 10, 2024.
