It’s now been a month since Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has been in theaters: it’s probably not a good sign, but DC Studios and Warner Bros have just released a first piece of the film on the internet, just to attract customers .

Aquaman freediving

The first Aquaman was a real hit, enough to establish itself as the DC Comics film that brought in the most money at the cinema in its history with 1.152 billion dollars at the international box office: obviously, we imagine that the comic book house like Warner Bros. expected a lot from its sequel.

However, with a public that is losing interest in works of the genre following an overdose of highly criticized works (at DC as at Marvel) and reshoots leading to a significant delay, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was expected to be a real financial hiccup.

The latest news is that the film has not yet reached its break-even point, but is already proving to be the “least worst” box office flop among the latest DC Comics films: it was almost $400 million after four weeks of operation, for a budget (excluding marketing) of $215 million.

A little more, and the studios will no longer lose money on this project that many condemned in advance and today, a small promotional gesture has just been made to give it a boost.

A little outing in the fresh air

The custom is increasingly common in the cinema industry, especially among blockbusters or mainstream horror films: publishing the very beginning of a feature film with completely free access on YouTube often means many things.

This is therefore the case of‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is showing on the Warner Bros. channel. Entertainment with its first ten minutes of film, viewable below.

Without surprise, this little marketing act is there to get you into the swing of things and encourage as many people as possible to go to cinemas to see what happens next.in the hope of further inflating the box office figures which still lack a little depth for the production to be in the green.

On the other hand, James Wan’s film nevertheless suffered some nasty reviews with a lukewarm average of 1.7 out of 5 on Allociné; internationally, it’s not better since Aquaman 2 only displays 47% on Metacritic (for 43 reviews).

As a reminder, this sequel once again features Aquaman (Jason Momoa), opposed to Black Manta who managed to capture the Black Trident, a dangerous artifact that will push our king of the seas into battlet: he will notably release his brother for the occasion, in order to form an unexpected alliance.

We find some big faces there, including some from the first episode: Patrick Wilson, Yahya Absul-Mateen II, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren… In short, there are people, but will that be enough to save the film?
