Adam Badowski, CEO of the Polish studio, shared some interesting information about these two titles during an interview with Reuters.

Remember that, in 2022, CD Projekt RED presented an anthology of upcoming productions, both behind the scenes and with partner studios. Among the most notable, we had the projects codenamed “ Polaris ” For The Witcher 4 And ” Orion » for the rest of Cyberpunk 2077. During this interview, the man shared elements which tend to reassure us about what awaits us in probably a few years.

The new saga The Witcher working

Let’s start with the title that will likely be the first to be released: The Witcher 4. On this subject, Adam Badowski told Reuters that the active production phase should begin this year. As a reminder, the masterful third opus of the license based on the writings of Andrezj Sapkowski was released in 2015.

While it is unlikely that the charismatic Geralt of Rivia will have a central role in The Witcher 4, which will mark the start of a new saga, at least he will be able to make an appearance, for the pleasure of fans. Regardless, the boss of CD Projekt RED indicated that no less than 400 people will work on it in the next six months.

The Polish studio apparently has high hopes for The Witcher 4. The man argues in any case that this new saga intends to offer us the best in an RPG dark fantasy. The transition from RED Engine to Unreal Engine 5 could help them focus on this task. In any case, this is what we hope for them, and that they take all the time necessary to achieve their ambitious goals. In any case, we are expecting a release in 2026 or 2027.

A sequence of Cyberpunk 2077 more accomplished?

Let’s then move on to the second big piece: the continuation of Cyberpunk 2077. After Phantom Liberty and a final update, it is indeed over for this divisive, but definitely striking title. Development of this second opus has already started from the studio’s offices in Boston.

The Witcher 4 however remaining the priority, “only” 80 people will work for the moment on this new adventure inspired by the dystopian role-playing game universe created by Mike Pondsmith. As part of the interview with Reuters, Michal Nowakowski, co-leader of CD Projekt RED, indicated that the studio learned from its past mistakes on the first opus.

The production of Cyberpunk 2 should therefore be better controlled, and a presentation of the game should not take place too many years in advance. In addition to this rather reassuring news, the man mentioned the existence of multiplayer elements in this sequel. This aspect had been completely abandoned on Cyberpunk first of the name, but perhaps the work carried out on this subject can be reused to good effect.

Finally, Reuters did not fail to ask representatives of CD Projekt RED what they thought of AI for the creation of video games. To this, Badowski replied: “ We believe it is a tool that can help improve certain processes in game production, as a complement to humans, not as a replacement. “.
