As in 2010, Peter Sagan wins the first stage of the Tour de Romandie. After the sixth stage of the Tour of Catalonia, it is the Slovak star’s second win of the season. In the 168-kilometer section from Aigle to Martigny, the 31-year-old won the day ahead of Sonny Colbrelli (It) and Patrick Bevin (Isr) in the mass sprint.
The best Swiss is Marc Hirschi, who lands in twelfth place, followed by Stefan Küng in 23rd place.
The overall ranking is still led by the winner of the prologue, Rohan Dennis (Aus), followed by his two Ineos teammates Geraint Thomas (Gb) and Richie Porte (Aus). There was a Swiss success in the mountain classification: the 22-year-old Joel Suter got 38 mountain points, twice as many as the second placed Manuele Boaro (It). (Tim)
