Cynthia Nixon: J.K. Rowling's words hurt the SATC star's son

"Sex And The City" star Cynthia Nixon has a clear opinion on the transphobic statements made by "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling.

With controversial statements about trans people, bestselling author J.K. Rowling (55) caused indignation a few months ago. In an interview with "The Independent", "Sex And The City" star Cynthia Nixon (54) has now commented on the incident. In several ways she is directly and indirectly affected by Rowling's words. She is a lesbian, her son is transsexual, and she is also politically committed to equality and feminism.

A world collapsed for her child: "It was immensely painful for him because so much of his childhood was closely related to 'Harry Potter'. The books seem to be about successful people who are different. That they join this one group singled out people and practically denied their existence is inexplicable. " Rowling had said, among other things, that biological sex was an inescapable reality.

Afterwards, the British author explained her statements by saying that she had made them in the spirit of feminism. Nixon now doubts that too: "I know that she is of the opinion that she stands up for feminism. But I don't see it that way." The stars of the "Harry Potter" films had unanimously opposed the author. Emma Watson (30) wrote: "I want my transsexual followers to know that I and many other people around the world recognize, respect and love you for who you are."
