Cyril Féraud: his energetic focus after criticism of The Treasure Map

As he launches Duels en famille, a new game from Monday to Friday at 4:15 p.m. on France 3, the host takes stock of his job and his life. Without forgetting to settle a few accounts… but in a good mood!

Duels in families arrive and relegate Numbers and letters at week-end. Aren’t you afraid of getting slaughtered by his fans?

Cyril Feraud: The devotees of numbers and letters are mostly followers of Slam. So I hope that Duels in families will please them. It’s a general knowledge game in family mode that I imagined one sleepless night! We will see two families defending their regions and confronting each other in words, images and music. As for the schedule, the channel fell in love with the game and decided that 4:15 p.m. would be the ideal slot. In any case, we spoke with Laurent Romejko and Patrice Laffont, there is no controversy between us.

But between the recordings during the day and the thoughts at night, how do you manage to enjoy life?

Indeed, I have a military-type schedule, but one that guarantees square organization. This allows me to free up time for myself, to take advantage of my own, and to take a vacation by switching off my cell phone.

By putting this summer Beijing Express in front of The Treasure Map, M6 tried to torpedo you. What does such a strategy inspire in you?

I was very angry, but it’s the sprinkler watered because our hearings are ahead of those of M6. It sucks as a tactic because it is the viewers, lovers of adventure games, who are penalized.

About The Treasure Map, it is criticized for its poor carbon footprint linked to the helicopter. What do you think ?

If I may say so, it’s an unfair trial. First, we drastically reduced the helicopter sequences, then no one comes to rail against the aerial images during the Tour de France, also taken from a helicopter! And then, who pollutes the most? A helicopter for two days on Thetreasure map or a variety prime time with its thousands of projectors, generators and giant screens for several days of rehearsals and filming?

You are still one of the few star animators not to have been the hero of a TV drama. Why such reluctance?

It’s less a reluctance than a scheduling problem! For a main role, you have to free up a month and devote yourself to it properly. If it’s to do it over the leg, don’t have time to be coached and end up working with a headset, that doesn’t interest me. I have too much respect for the acting profession. It’s true that many of my fellow animators have risked it and they are not necessarily very good. We won’t say which ones… but we think about it very hard! (He’s laughing.)

You had talked about having a child before the age of 40 and you are 37. We will have to think about it!

But, if I calculate correctly and according to my knowledge of how to proceed, I still have three years left! But yes, it is still relevant.
