Daedalic Entertainment (Gollum) bought by the French from Nacon

This is news that we clearly did not expect, the German development studio Daedalic Entertainment has just been bought by the French from Nacon.

Daedalic Entertainment is a German studio/publisher behind the excellent Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth. We had also in 2017 (at the time of the release) had the opportunity to meet the development teams. Recently they are better known for being behind the game Gollum, to date one of the only Lord of the Rings games that we know. The studio itself is made up of 87 people.

A Made in France purchase

German quality at the service of France? In any case, it is Nacon, a subsidiary of BigBen, which has just acquired the German company for no less than 53 million euros, which is a very tidy sum. Nacon states on this subject:

Thanks to this strategic acquisition, the largest ever made by the company, Nacon is strengthening its position as a leader in AA games and benefiting from the synergies between the two publishing houses with complementary profiles to solidify its position as a leading brand in the field of Game.

What to expect with Daedalic in the bosom of Nacon?

This is not the first takeover made by the French box since they have also recovered Midgar Studio or Passtech Games in recent years. But here the difference is that Daedalic is not only a development studio but also a publisher. They therefore have a different and broader know-how and this will surely allow other opportunities for the Nacon group.
