Daedalic halts development to focus on publishing

It’s not going well at the moment for the German studio Daedalic Entertainment. After repeatedly pushing back The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, the title finally received a more than icy reception, both from the press and from the players. A real cold shower for the publisher and developer, who finally changed course. From now on, Daedalic will be focused on game publishing, and development is on the back burner.

A decision deemed difficult by the company in an interview with GamesWirtschaft, and which sees 25 employees out of the 90 pushed towards the exit. The others will be entitled to new opportunities, strategically relocated in linked studios. A great opportunity that will probably make them see the country. However, this does not mean the end of Daedalic, which still has some strong titles, some of which are in development.

another game The Lord of the Rings was also in the works since 2022. This denier has been put on hold, the time to find another studio to take care of it. One can also note the case Surviving Deponia, new entry in the saga, which is not affected by these measures. The game is developed by an external studio, AtomicTorch, so there will be no repercussions on its development.
