(Boursier.com) – Mercedes -Benz saw its global sales plunge by a quarter in the fourth quarter of 2021 with 566,500 units marketed. And this despite a jump of nearly 30% in sales of electric cars. The subsidiary of Daimler suffered particularly in Europe (-29%) while the Asia-Pacific (-21.3%) and North America (-21.1%) regions performed little better. Over 2021 as a whole, the luxury carmaker’s global sales fell 5%. Hardly spared by the global shortage of chips, the German group expects its production to remain disrupted by this phenomenon in the coming quarters.
