The barn of a farm in Elfingen AG burned down completely on Saturday night. No people or animals were harmed.
The fire report was received by the Aargau cantonal police at 2:20 a.m., as announced on Saturday morning. A short time after the arrival of the emergency services, the barn was already fully engulfed in flames.
The residents of the directly attached residential area and the restaurant in the same building complex have been evacuated. The residential part and the restaurant can no longer be used until further notice.
The residents of the neighboring properties were also evacuated as a precaution by the police because of the flying sparks. According to the announcement, they were able to return to their properties early on Saturday morning.
The cause of the fire is still unclear. The Aargau cantonal police have started investigations to clarify the exact cause of the fire.
