Damián van der Vaart has taken a first step in terms of his football career. The 15-year-old has signed a professional youth contract.
Damián van der Vaart (15), son of presenter Sylvie Meis (43) and ex-HSV professional Rafael van der Vaart (38), signed his first football contract in Denmark. “You moved to Denmark almost nine months ago with just one goal. Your focus and hard work will pay off on your birthday. My boy has just signed his first contract with Esbjerg fB! I’m bursting with pride,” reports Sylvie Meis on Instagram about the special event in their son’s life.
“Incredibly proud and what a great birthday present!” Writes the proud father in a separate posting. Damián himself also reports with an Instagram post on signing his contract with the football club in the Danish port city of Esbjerg. The club betrayed on his official Instagram accountthat the contract runs until 2023 and Damián van der Vaart will play as a midfielder in the U15 team.
In order to advance his sporting career, the 15-year-old moved to his father in Denmark last year. The ex-soccer star van der Vaart and Meis were married from 2005 to 2013. Their son Damián was born in 2006.
