The Dangbei Neo is a projector for all occasions. We saw this for ourselves while camping, in the garden and in the living room at home.
Whether at home as a replacement for the much too small TV, on vacation on a bed sheet or in the garden and on the go with a power station on any (white) wall – the Dangbei Neo wants to offer a cinema experience everywhere.
New: The Dagbei Neo full HD projector
Now available for pre-order
The Dangbei Neo is a mini projector that is suitable for a variety of uses. It will go on sale in mid-May and the projector can be pre-ordered now.
We have checked this – and can largely confirm it. Even in low light, the bright projector with 540 ISO lumens still delivers a clear image, and in the dark the film experience becomes a pleasure.
Update from April 18th: The Dangbei Neo has now dropped significantly in price and is currently available at prices starting at 399 euros, for example on Amazon:
Compromises have to be made when it comes to sound, which is a far cry from cinema audio. But there still has to be a reason for wanting to go to the cinema.

The Dangbei Neo can beam anywhere in conjunction with a power station.
What we liked about the Dangbei Neo:
- Quickly set up the network connection via WiFi
- Fully automatic image adjustment (autofocus, keystone correction)
- Obstacle detection and readjustment in the event of vibration
- Relatively bright and sharp image
What we didn’t like about the Dangbei Neo:
- Just one button to turn on and off
- Settings only possible via the remote control
- No German-language app
- High price for the service offered
Conclusion: For a really great home cinema experience, the Dangbei Neo lacks resolution and audio quality, so cinephiles need a higher quality device for the home cinema. The device is ideal for traveling and camping, but at officially around 700 euros it also puts a very big hole in your holiday budget and there are plenty of cheap no-name alternatives, at least with Android TV.
Although the projector with Linux offers an alternative and fast operating system, we don’t see any real advantages compared to Android TV – on the contrary, we miss its app store – at least Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube are preinstalled.
If you’re not afraid of the expense and are looking forward to a movie in the garden or on the go, we can recommend the Dangbei Neo. If you are unsure which projector is best for you, our buying guide on the subject of “projectors” will help.
