Daniel Gélin: women, money, drugs … His daughter Fiona without filter on the dissolute life of her father

On the airwaves of Sud Radio, Fiona Gélin remembered the unbridled life led by her father. Alcohol, parties, hard drugs, women… Daniel Gélin has had multiple excesses.

Daniel Gélin’s life has been dissolved. Actor with an impressive filmography – he has appeared in more than 160 films and numerous plays and television series – the actor has also benefited a lot from his existence. A seducer, he successively married Danièle Delorme in 1946, Sylvie Hirsch in 1954 and, finally, Lydie Zaks in 1973. In his youth, the actor experienced the madness of early Saint-Tropez, before the fishing village became the seaside resort of today.. There, Daniel Gélin fell into addictions to alcohol and hard drugs. “Two people helped him… Sacha Guitry and my mother, confided on this subject his daughter, Fiona Gélin, on the airwaves of South Radio. (…) Every time there was an experience, he had to do it.”

In this interview, Fiona Gélin also recalled the amazing relationship her father had with money.. “He left empty-handed. He said the money was for spending and having fun. He left everything to his wives,” remembered the actress, guest of Sud Radio. And to continue, recounting memories of his childhood: “I was like, ‘Daddy, can I have some pocket money?’ and he answered me: ‘Rook through my jackets. Help yourself, take what you want’.” Even as he got older, Daniel Gélin has not changed. “That’s why he had women who were more or less at the same time his agent”, she said again. Like her dad long before her, Fiona Gélin also fought with her demons. In her book, Si Fragile, Fiona Gélin described alcoholism as “a suicide”.

Fiona Gélin: “I feel like my whole life has been a fault”

“I had acute pancreatitis, the SAMU came to get me, it’s my best friend, Golda [la compagne de Daniel Hechter ndlr] who saved my life this time”, wrote the actress. Fiona Gélin fell into addictions after toxic relationships. “I feel like my whole life has been a mistake and I blame myself terribly. Loving men to death. And drowning to forget”, confided the actress, who spoke of Alain, the man she followed after her romance with Daniel Hechter, “a fascinating man, with incredible kindness, kindness, generosity”: “I left Daniel for Alain. And Alain destroyed me […] it was so dazzling that it plunged me into rum. […] to support. To help me believe that life was always beautiful. Because he beat me. Passed close to the worst, Fiona Gélin picked up and clung to the love of her son Milan and Ghjuilia, her granddaughter.
