Daniel Radcliffe dons the comedian’s curly hair for “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.” Now the first trailer has been released.
The first trailer for the biopic about “Weird Al” Yankovic (62) is here – and he’s just as wacky as was to be expected in advance. In the production of The Roku Channel, “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe (32) slips into the role of the comedian, who with his humorous reinterpretations of world-famous songs like “Like A Virgin” by Madonna (63) or “Beat It” and “Bad” by Michael Jackson caused a sensation – and won five Grammys.
Consequently, the trailer for “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” is accompanied by his “Like A Surgeon” (“Like A Surgeon”), while Radcliffe, topless, but with lots of curls and an accordion, creates a good atmosphere on stage. “What can I say? I’m full of surprises,” says “Weird Al” Radcliffe at the end of the trailer.
The breakthrough for Daniel Radcliffe
In fact, that applies to both men. After his career as a Harry Potter wizard student, Radcliffe has clearly found a taste for wacky roles. And so he was the devil (“Horns”), corpse (“Swiss Army Man”) or killer against his will (“Guns Akimbo”).
According to the film’s description, he will “hold nothing back and tell every facet of Yankovic’s life […] – from gifted child prodigy to greatest music legend of all time.” Yankovic said he was “absolutely thrilled to have Daniel Radcliffe play me in the film. I have no doubt that this will be the role he will be remembered for for generations to come.”
