Daniela Büchner and Jürgen Drews: Mallorca stars fear their cult bars

The corona crisis hits Mallorca hard. Island greats like Daniela Büchner and Jürgen Drews feel the consequences.

Ballermann size Jürgen Drews (75, "When the sparklers are burning") has "sad certainty", as he writes on Instagram. The cult bistro "König von Mallorca" in Santa Ponca, where he was to be found regularly, has to close. It "couldn't withstand the corona madness". The bistro opened in May 2011 and has been run by Drews' friend Maurice Gritzmacher and his wife Karin ever since. "It was a wonderful time", the pop singer remembers the days gone by, "with an infinite number of moments that I will never forget".

Daniela Büchner on compulsory leave

Daniela Büchner (42) suffers a similar fate. The widow of cult emigrant Jens Büchner (1969-2018) does not have to give up her "Faneteria" in Cala Millor completely. However, this is "on compulsory leave for an indefinite period," as the 42-year-old writes in an Instagram story. "It's just not worth it anymore." The bar operator hopes that the situation will change "in a week or two" and that the travel warning for Mallorca will be lifted promptly.
