2024 - Daredevil Born Again: the Marvel series resumes filming... but loses episodes

Matt Murdock is back on the streets of New York. Three months after the interruption of its production, and the complete replacement of its creative team, the series Daredevil: Born Again turns his cameras again. The Marvel series on Disney+ saw its production resume this Monday, at the cost of a massive reduction in its episodes. We take stock.

From 18… to 13 episodes

Originally announced as a massive series with 18 episodes, Daredevil: Born Again suffered the full brunt of the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strike last year and had to suspend filming several times.

Interruptions which allowed the producers (and Kevin Feige) to make a complete artistic shift in the project, after a (visibly inconclusive) viewing of the first images shot.

All of the authors and directors of the show were thanked, and replaced by the duo Justin Benson / Aaron Moorhead (Loki, Moon Knight) behind the camera, and by Dario Scardapane (Jack Ryan, The Punisher) to the scenario. According to our colleagues at The Hollywood Reporter, this process led to a reduction in the number of episodes of the program, which went from 18 to 13!

The future series, planned for Disney+ for next year, is currently filming with Charlie Cox, back in the costume of the man without fear. He will face him Vincent D’Onofrio in the role of Kingpin, who recently appeared in the mini-series Echo. Rumors regarding the return of Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) have also been circulating.

Marvel is visibly in a major overhaul of its model, whether in the cinema or on the Disney+ streaming platform. Deadpool 3 is thus the studio’s only feature film scheduled for release in theaters in 2024, and Echo has already shaken up habits with its reduced format of five episodes, all available at the same time.

What if season 2 of Loki started very strong, the series Secret Invasion, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel And Hawkeye received mixed reviews, and especially struggled to convince subscribers of the streaming service. This future Daredevil program therefore has the heavy responsibility of restoring the image of the studios. To be continued.
