Dark Souls: PvP Servers Will Likely Return After Elden Ring Releases

Following a security breach, allowing some to take control of PC players from Dark Souls PvP servers, FromSoftware had taken the heavy decision to close them until further notice. The streamer The__Grim__Sleeper was the victim, in addition to other people: after meeting a player on the servers, he completely lost control of his computer. Since then, the servers have been closed on Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls II and Dark Souls III.

Today we have more information on this subject. It is through the official Twitter account that FromSoftware spoke. They thus stated that “ Bandai Namco and FromSoftware are aware of the technical difficulties players are having with the Dark Souls suite of games on PC […] We would like to thank the entire Dark Souls community and players who reached out to us directly to voice their concerns and offer solutions. Thanks to you, we have identified the cause and are working to resolve the problem”. Thereby, a patch, solving this security flaw, should arrive soon on the PC versions of these games, probably after the release of Elden Ring. However, we do not yet know the exact date.

In addition, they wanted to reassure players regarding Elden Ring. The title will not be postponed and will indeed be released on February 25. : “ Additionally, we have extended the investigation to Elden Ring – our next game launching on February 25 – and have ensured that the necessary security measures are in place for this title on all target platforms.”.
