Dave Gahan presents his new album “Imposter” live in a single concert in Germany – which everyone can experience thanks to Telekom.

In addition to his career as a front man at Depeche Mode, Dave Gahan (59) is always breaking new ground. With the recently released cover album “Imposter”, the singer tries out old material with emotional value – soon also live in Berlin.

The new album came out in mid-November, on which Gahan presents himself together with the Soulsavers in a completely new musical way. With his chest swollen with pathos, the otherwise cool Depeche Mode frontman belts out songs from his own heroes such as Neil Young (76), Bob Dylan (80), PJ Harvey (52) or Elvis Presley (1935-1977). Without exception, these are songs that, according to Gahan’s own statement, have a special and personal meaning. The experiment worked: The “Rolling Stone” judged after the record that Gahan may still have his best years as a singer ahead of him – and that after a world career of 40 years.

In business for 40 years

It’s been exactly 40 years since Depeche Mode released their first album “Speak & Spell”. The rest is music history, as evidenced by 100 million records sold, numerous awards and titles such as “One of the most successful bands in the world”. The title of the new Gahan record should surprise one or two fans: “Imposter” means “impostor”.

Kitchen psychology is not far here, as Martin Gore (60) is still considered the creative mastermind behind the music at Depeche Mode. So it would not be surprising if Gahan also suffered from the now famous “Imposter Syndrome” – the feeling that he did not deserve his own success. For 20 years he has been proving his skills as a songwriter, with solo albums as well as with works for his main band. The new interpretations of the demanding songs could now take him a step further.

Live in the Admiralpalast and on every screen

In any case, they are a highly emotional journey through Gahan’s personal musical development – which will soon also be seen in Germany. Telekom brings the multiple award-winning singer and entertainer to the stage in Berlin’s Admiralspalast. As part of the Telekom Street Gigs, Gahan will perform the album live for the first and only time in Germany on December 13th – and show it to the whole world via livestream. From 8 p.m. the concert can be streamed free of charge on magenta-musik-360.de and seen on #dabeiTV on MagentaTV.

At Telekom, too, people are excited about this concert: “We are proud that we are the first in Germany to be able to stream his new songs live. With the Street Gig, we are offering our customers and all music fans a real highlight at the end of the year “TV boss Michael Schuld is quoted as saying. And that will be on show for longer: the show will subsequently be available on demand at MagentaMusik 360 and in MagentaTV’s megathek.
