The double Olympic judo champion and his wife are among the celebrities who have agreed to put themselves in danger in the psychological adventure program Les Traitors, presented by Éric Antoine and broadcast on M6 on August 24 at 9:10 p.m. Memories.
In what state of mind did you both approach this challenge?
David Douillet: We were there to have fun. We have children and we often play board games with them. Besides, we had already participated three or four times in role-playing games. So we let ourselves be tempted, especially since we usually never participate in shows together.
Vanessa Douillet: The game of traitors was already broadcast in the Netherlands a few years ago, but we did not wish to inquire. We didn’t want to know anything before our participation. When we were offered to do the show as a couple, but separately, we said yes right away!
Have you had trouble concealing your respective statuses of traitor and loyal?
DV: We did not sleep together and we forbade any telephone contact.
DD: Being a loyal was easy. For Vanessa, it was another challenge, knowing that she was his double agent. Of all the contestants, the part for her was the hardest because she was the only one there with her spouse.
Which competitors surprised you with their intuition? Delphine Wespiser seems, for example, to have seen it quite clearly from the start…
DD: The editing gives that impression. But Delphine, like all of us, spent her time changing her mind. Everyone suspected everyone…
Were your respective professions of ex-athlete and hypnotherapist useful to you in this experience?
DD: It helped me with self-control, because there are many times when it’s important to be quiet, even if you want to talk, and others when you have to “go”. My background as a high-level athlete has also served me well in terms of concentration.
DV: Mine completely served me. My job is to take care of others and show them that they are capable of overcoming their problems. So it was very complicated for me. I left with the idea of winning but as I became attached to the other personalities, I find it difficult to keep this objective in mind.
