Like millions of people around the world, this Sunday, April 9, 2023, the British royal family celebrated Easter. As tradition dictates, the King and Queen, together with members of the Royal Family, attended a Mass in the Chapel of Saint George of Windsor, the same one where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married. So there was obviously Charles III and Camilla, but also Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children. The Princess of Wales wore a stunning royal blue outfit, with a matching long coat and hat. She had taken care that Charlotte wear identical tones. The little girl wore a flowery dress in blues and royal blue tights. She had her hair down as often and two braids to clear her face. The prince Louis was in shorts, compulsory dress for princes before the age of 8. George was in costume like his father.
The children were mischievous, not forbidding themselves to run in front of the chapel, or even to make faces at photographers gathered in front of the place of worship. They were, however, firmly held by their parents. For Prince Louis, this public outing probably served as a test before May 6. After his escapades during the Jubilee of Elizabeth II, his parents want him to be irreproachable at his grandfather’s coronation.
A united royal family before the coronation
A very strong symbol, Queen Camilla also wears royal blue, just like Charles III. While this may seem like a coincidence, it probably isn’t. This matching color choice between the two families is proof of unity. It aims to show 4 weeks from a much-anticipated coronation that father and son have never been closer. This is not trivial when we know that the organization of the coronation of Charles III poses a problem, in particular with regard to the guests, and more precisely the role attributed to some like Meghan and Harry. The smile was anyway, like the sun, at the rendezvous in this Easter Sunday for the Windsors who went after mass for a chocolate egg hunt and a big family lunch in the castle.
