Dead Space: another disappointment for fans of the franchise

Yesterday, to everyone’s surprise, EA Games announced that Motivation Studio will found a new team to develop games in the universe Battlefieldin the company of DICE, Criterion And Ripple Effect. BF 2042 will stop at Season 7which will not disappoint many fans as the title was already forgotten.

However, the announcement regarding Motivation Studio has caused a lot of ink to flow. Famous for Star Wars: Squadrons And Dead Space Remakethe studio is currently developing a game Iron Manit is indeed a second team which will lend a hand on Battlefield. According to the journalist Jeff Grubb, Motivation Studio was developing Dead Space 2 Remake, which was in the design phase, but the project was reportedly canceled or put on hiatus due to poor sales of the previous remake. Electronic Arts then jumped to send a press release to IGNstating:

We don’t normally comment on rumors, but this story has no validity.

And this is where the story gets bigger, because no one knows which part of the story is talking about EA Games. Was Dead Space 2 Remake Never Planned? Or is its development not canceled/paused? Jeff Grubb defends himself by recalling that studios often lie to protect their interests (no one wants to see a project leak on the Web before its official announcement), but Jason Schreier of Bloomberg sheds some light on the matter. The journalist claims that the press releaseEA Games is correct, because Motivation Studio reportedly stopped working on Dead Space 2 Remake since last springin 2023. A small team would have developed a concept for this project, which would never have been validated internally. Since last summer, according to information from Bloombergthis team would have imagined other concepts and the other developers of Dead Space 1 Remake would have left for other projects.

All this to say that Motivation Studio currently working on the game Iron Man and the franchise Battlefieldwhile License Dead Space is back in the closet at Electronic Arts. Born in 2008 thanks to Visceral Gamesthe series was entitled to a trilogy of games, but the third opus disappointed fans so much that Dead Space remained forgotten for almost 10 years, until the 2023 remake (available from €31 on Amazon, Cdiscount And there Fnac). Quickly after its release, EA Games had released a poll to see if players were interested in further remakes, but it now seems clear that Dead Space will be forgotten again
