For a long time, the fate of “Deadpool 3” wasn’t entirely clear. In November 2020 it was finally announced that the antihero would receive an MCU sequel in 2024. In his third adventure, Deadpool meets X-Man Wolverine. But this is not “Deadpool 3”.

The cheeky anti-hero Deadpool returns in summer 2024. The film is scheduled to open in US cinemas on July 26, 2024. In Germany we can look forward to the cinema release a few days earlier. That means “Deadpool & Wolverine” premieres on July 24, 2024 in German cinemas. Ryan Reynolds confirmed the start date with an Instagram post.
Deadpool & Wolverine: trailer and pictures
The first real trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine” shows how Deadpool visits Wolverine in the past and forces him to fight alongside him for his luck. However, the X-Men are not at all enthusiastic about this and so there is an argument more than once in the short video.
A first trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine” was shown during the Super Bowl 2024. In it we see Wade Wilson aka Deadpool unusually hairy. In a journey through time, Wade has to work together with Wolverine. Unfortunately, in the teaser trailer this was only visible as a shadow.
Deadpool & Wolverine: Plot
In “Deadpool & Wolverine,” loudmouth anti-hero Deadpool travels back in time to help his friend. There he meets Wolverine, who is currently recovering from his serious injuries and initially doesn’t think much of the chatterbox. But Deadpool doesn’t give up because he hopes for the beast’s help to fight together against common enemies.
Deadpool & Wolverine: Cast
For his third film as Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds (“The Adam Project”) of course returns in his role as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool. His forced companion Wolverine is played by Hugh Jackman (“The Son”).
Jennifer Garner (“Protect Her”) is celebrating a more than surprising comeback in “Deadpool & Wolverine”. Almost 20 years after she played Elektra Natchios in “Daredevil” alongside her ex-husband Ben Affleck, she returns to the role.
Also appearing are Morena Baccarin (“The Flash”) as Vanessa Carlysle, Brianna Hildebrand (“Lucifer”) as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Rob Delaney (“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One”) as Peter, Shioli Kutsuna (“Infiltration”) ) as Yukio, Karan Soni (“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”) as Dopinder, Emma Corrin (“The Crown”) and Matthew Macfadyen (“Succession”).
Deadpool & Wolverine: Production
The screenplay for “Deadpool & Wolverine” comes from the writing duo Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux (“Bob’s Burgers”). The two writers of the scripts for “Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2” have revised the script. Shawn Levy (“Stranger Things”) will direct the film.
Even though “Deadpool & Wolverine” is the third adventure of the anti-hero Deadpool, the film is not “Deadpool 3”. In an interview during CinemaCon in April 2024, the director explains the reason.
When it comes to shaping the Deadpool and Wolverine story, I feel privileged every day, because you’re also talking about two big movie stars in their most famous roles. It’s the third Deadpool movie, but not Deadpool 3. It’s something different that focuses very much on Deadpool and Wolverine. The film doesn’t try to copy anything from the first two films. They were great, but this is a two-sided character adventure.

Other characters from recent years are also making a comeback in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” So perfect for every nostalgic person. “Deadpool & Wolverine” follows in the footsteps of its predecessors and in combination with Wolverine we can expect a comedy storm, because it can already be said: the two “heroes” don’t always agree.
