Does the series “Chère petite”, a real hit on Netflix, have a chance of seeing a sequel? Explanations.
Just one week after its release, the German series Dear Little broke a record on Netflix: it marked the best start for a non-English-speaking fiction, thus accumulating more than 10 million views. This indisputable success confirms the public’s appetite for police investigations and other criminal intrigues, already very present on the platform.
Made up of six episodes, Dear Little opens with the escape of a woman and her little daughter from a basement where they were confined. When the victims are held for observation in the hospital, a breathtaking investigation begins for the authorities. A race against time begins to find the culprit and save a little boy being held prisoner.
Without saying too much, the investigation finds a real conclusion at the end of a final muscular episode. However, can a season 2 see the light of day? Nothing less sure. Dear Little was designed as a mini-series, a program that does not call for any sequels.
Of course, in the face of success, Netflix can completely change its mind, but it will then be necessary to detach itself from the original novel written by Romy Hausmann, who never offered a sequel to her bestseller. If a season 2 sees the light of day, it could explore the trauma of the victims and the way in which they will rebuild themselves.
But that would go against the very interest of Dear Little, whose real strength lies in its detective intrigue and its many twists and turns. For the moment, Netflix has not communicated on the start of a possible season 2 and it is unlikely that this will happen.
