The president of the National Rally Jordan Bardella was the guest of La Grande interview Europe 1-CNews. At the microphone of Sonia Mabrouk, the MEP returned to the death of Alexeï Navalny and pointed out “the very great responsibility of Russian power” in the death of the main opponent in Moscow.

A few days after the announcement of the death of Alexei Navalny, the main opponent of Russian power, diplomatic anger has not subsided. Several European countries, including Spain and France, have summoned the Russian ambassador present in their respective territories. At the same time, the 47-year-old’s family has still not had access to his body. The main Russian opponent was incarcerated in a penal colony in the Arctic, where he was serving a 19-year prison sentence for “extremism”.

“Investigation, there must be”

Invited this Wednesday on the set of La Grande interview Europe 1-CNews, the president of the National Rally Jordan Bardella said he was in favor of an independent investigation to shed light on the circumstances of the death of the main opponent of Vladimir Putin. “It goes without saying,” he assures Sonia Mabrouk at the microphone, echoing France’s request.

“Alexeï Navalny was the first opponent of the regime and I believe that we recognize or not the democratic quality of a State by the way in which it considers its opponents and its opposition. So, there must be an investigation. And it is obvious that Russian power has some responsibility in the death of its opponent,” continues Jordan Bardella.

Contradictions

Before correcting: “I think that Russian power has a very great responsibility.” However, a year before Alexeï Navalny’s death, MEPs denounced his conditions of imprisonment. A resolution that the elected representatives of the National Rally did not vote for. “We must not be satisfied with the title of the resolutions, we must look at what is precisely in these resolutions,” retorts Jordan Bardella.

And to conclude: “I deny the right of the European Union to arrogate diplomatic powers to itself. So, we have always been extremely clear on this subject. And from the moment the European Union seeks to arrogate to itself the diplomatic prerogatives which are theoretically those of States, we refuse or we abstain on this type of resolution.
