Death of an Algerian D2 player in the middle of a match


Sofiane Loukar, player of MC Saïda, Algerian D2 club, died at the age of 30, in the middle of a match, of a heart attack this Saturday, December 25.

A week after the historic coronation of the Fennecs in the Arab Nations Cup, Algerian football is in mourning. Sofiane Loukar, captain of the Saïda team, suffered a head trauma during a match between his team and ASM Oran.

After receiving treatment on the edge of the pitch, he came into play again before collapsing to the ground a few minutes later without ever getting up, as reported by Algerian Radio.

Attempts to revive him failed to save him. Sofiane Loukar did not present any contraindication to the practice of football, as Ali Malek, president of the National Amateur Football League (LNFA) clarified: “He lost his life after an aerial duel, despite the intervention of doctors, he succumbed to his injury. His medical record was perfect ”.

He also wanted to send his condolences to the family and teammates of the deceased.
