Death of Bob Saget: the actor of the Fête à la Maison was also the voice-over of another cult series!

Actor Bob Saget, who played the unforgettable Danny Tanner, daddy of Lat home partydied on January 9 at the age of 65. But it should not be reduced to this one role alone.

The death at 65 of the actor Bob Saget upset many young adults, fed on the series of the nineties: the Home Party. Danny Tanner was indeed him. This widowed father who raised alone (but with the complicity of his brother-in-law and his best friend) his 3 inconsolable daughters. In a few episodes, he had quickly become the surrogate father of a whole generation of viewers who would have loved to be in the place of DJ, Stéphanie, Michelle, so much he excelled in his role of daddy hen, both bossy and tender, outdated but (very) efficient. Six years ago, Netflix had the good idea to resuscitate the series successfully, even if the actors had changed a lot. A very strong bond, moreover, united the viewers and the actors of the series, even after the years and they returned them well, as during the first confinement.

Bob Saget: from Home party at How I Met Your Mother,

It is therefore certainly no coincidence that 10 years after the decade Home Party (1987-1995), when Carter Bays and Craig Thomas set out to find the voice of the ideal father for their new series How I Met Your Motherthe one that would serve as a common thread for their creation, they went straight to Bob Saget’s doorbell. A wise choice, since the majority of the public who made the success of How I met your Mother was precisely the generation that had grown up as a family in the face of the episodes of Home party. Now young adults, viewers rediscovered the voice of the dad who had rocked their television childhood and who now told them thirties stories in which they could project themselves.

Logically, Bob Segat should not have played Ted Mosby

It was also an artistic choice, since logically: the voice of this narrator who opened each episode of How I Met Your Mother should have been played by Josh Radnor. It is indeed him who played on the screen, we remember, Ted Mosby: the character who tells his children how he had met their mother, 30 years earlier. During 9 seasons (2005-2014), Bob saget was this narrator and therefore shared the role of Ted Mosby with Josh Radnor without him ever appearing on screen and without any artistic logic. For the record: in the French version of Home party and of HIMYMBob Segat was doubled by Jean-Claude Montalban.
