Death of Gaspard Ulliel: what we know about the circumstances of the ski accident

The world of cinema has lost one of its own. This Wednesday, actor Gaspard Ulliel died at the University Hospital Center of Grenoble-Alpes where he had been admitted on Tuesday in emergency after being the victim of a skiing accident at the resort of La Rosière in Savoie.

The 30-year-old actor was in Montvalezan, on the ski area of ​​the resort of La Rosière located in the Haute Tarentaise massif when the accident occurred.

“Mr. Gaspard Ulliel collided with another skier on the top of the blue ‘Tetras’ run, when he had just turned left, probably to join his friends who were on the ‘Gellinotte’ run, indicates the public prosecutor of Albertville Anne Gaches this Wednesday evening in a press release.

“It appears from the first testimonies and the observations made on the spot that the two skiers both fell to the ground. When the help arrived, Mr. Gaspard Ulliel was motionless, unconscious in the snow. The other skier was unharmed”, adds the magistrate. According to a source familiar with the matter, “The actor was not wearing a protective helmet at the time of the collision. The other skier had one on him”. This same source also told us that the actor had been “destabilized” in “crossing” the other skier” but she did not mention the notion of collision.

Seriously injured, the actor whose vital prognosis was engaged was helicoptered Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. to the Grenoble-Alpes University Hospital Center. He was taken care of urgently.

Unfortunately, the actor did not survive his injuries. He died in hospital on Wednesday. “The death of Mr. Gaspard Ulliel was recorded today shortly after 4 p.m. by the doctor in the intensive care unit of this hospital” details the public prosecutor.

A judicial investigation was opened on Tuesday and entrusted to investigators from the CRS Alpes, Albertville detachment, by the Albertville prosecutor’s office. The investigations are continuing.
