American actress Rebecca Balding died yesterday at the age of 66. She was known to the general public for having played the editor of the Bay Mirror in the series “Charmed”.
Born in Arkansas, Rebecca Balding made her television debut in the second half of the 1970s, notably participating in Starsky and Hutch, before securing the leading roles in two horror films in cinema, first in The Silence who kills (1979) then in The Boogens (1981).
She then plays the guests on the small screen for almost two decades, from The Falling Man to MacGyver via 7 at Home or Beverly Hills or Melrose Place. It is truly her role in the fantastic series Charmed that made her known in 2002.

From season 4 to season 8, she plays Elise Rothman, the editor-in-chief of the Bay Mirror, newspaper for which the character of Phoebe Halliwell works. Difficult in business, she is however benevolent with Phoebe, to the point of considering her as a member of her family.
Quite rare, Balding had already appeared in the series, but to play another character! She was indeed Jackie, Aviva’s aunt, a teenager endowed with magical powers in the episode The Fourth Sister (S01E07).
