Three weeks after the death of Thomas in Crépol, the mayor of Romans-sur-Isère is once again the target of threats. A message which probably follows the appearances this week of Marie-Hélène Thoraval in the media. The councilor has been living under police protection for 10 days.

The mayor of Romans-sur-Isère is once again the target of threats. Thursday, Marie-Hélène Thoraval was the guest of Europe 1, and the next day, the elected official received new threats at the town hall. She had already received messages of intimidation by telephone and then of death on social networks last week. This time, it was not on social networks but on the town hall’s email box that the threatening message arrived.

A short text but it couldn’t be clearer, explains Marie-Hélène Thoraval at the microphone of Europe 1: “It’s a new threat asking me to keep quiet about Crépol, it was titled that way. Otherwise, the threat was an attack on our town hall,” explains the councilor.

“I will continue to express myself”

A threatening message which probably follows the new appearances this week of the mayor of Romans on TV sets and in radio morning shows. However, “this is not going to stop, I will continue to express myself,” she assures. “I don’t see who could preempt my freedom. I am not afraid and I maintain the same determination to tell an inconvenient truth.”

Marie-Hélène Thoraval immediately filed a complaint and for ten days has benefited from police protection both at home and at Romans town hall. This week, the police arrested the author of the very first intimidating messages received by the councilor. It was a 32-year-old man living in Marseille. He was sentenced in immediate appearance to eight months in prison.
