“Death on the Nile”: Kuwait bans the broadcast of the film with Gal Gadot, Israeli actress

The American film “Death on the Nile”, adapted from the novel by Agatha Christie and featuring Israeli actress Gal Gadot, was banned from broadcasting in Kuwait on Sunday February 6.

Kuwaiti Information Ministry spokeswoman Anouar Murad confirmed the ban, which was reported in the local press, without explaining the reason.

A political reason

According to the Kuwaiti newspaper “Al Qabas“, this decision would have been taken after calls for a boycott launched on social networks by Internet users, the heroine of the film Gal Gadot defended Israel’s deadly offensive against the Palestinian enclave of Gaza in the summer of 2014, reports AFP.

In total, this devastating war resulted in the death of at least 2,251 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and left 74 dead on the Israeli side, mostly soldiers. On Facebook, Gal Gadot saluted the Israeli army and attack the Hamas in power in Gaza. In support of the Palestinian cause, Kuwait still refuses normalization with Israel, unlike several Arab countries in the region which have signed agreements with the Jewish state in recent years, our colleagues recall.
