The style of an electric bike can impact the user’s final choice. And inevitably, the color assigned to it is sometimes likely to tip the balance to one side or the other. For its part, Decathlon is trying its hand at little follies and has the merit of taking risks that can already be described as paying off as the result seems attractive.

This is typically what we can observe on the Rockrider E-EXPL 700 electric mountain bike, sold for 2,499 euros by the French brand. This model is adorned with a new iridescent purple color that is simply magnificent, reflecting the light in several places depending on the angle of our gaze and the photo. In short, this potentially divisive version really does not go unnoticed.

A workshop dedicated to the BTWIN Village in Lille

Please note that Decathlon has its own workshop, at BTWIN Village in Lille, to imagine and test new colors on its bicycles and electric bikes. We were able to discover it in February 2023 during our visit to the site. This guarantees him a certain margin of maneuver and allows his teams to give free rein to their imagination if necessary.

For the rest, the Decathlon Rockrider E-EXPL 700 retains its initial technical sheet, consisting of a Brose Drive T central motor with a torque of 70 nm, a torque sensor, a 630 Wh battery, 29-inch wheels, a Shimano Deore 10-speed transmission or even TEKTRO M530 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes (180 mm disc).

An equally beautiful bottle green

Semi-rigid, this VTTAE is based on a single X-FUSION RC32 suspension fork with a generous travel of 130 mm, combined with a telescopic seat post, the Ergo 900 screen and five assistance modes. Not forgetting Bluetooth connectivity to pair with the Decathlon mobile application.

Available in four sizes (S, M, L and XL), this Decathlon Rockrider E-EXPL 700 weighs between 21.9 and 22.4 kg and benefits from a lifetime warranty on its frame, stem and handlebars. Spare parts are guaranteed for two years. Note that it exists in another equally magnificent color, a carefully crafted bottle green.
