Beat Forster will retire from professional sport in spring 2024 at the age of 41. “His exceptional skills on the ice, his leadership and his dedication to sport have made him an icon,” said his club EHC Biel.

The Appenzeller made his debut in the top league at HC Davos in the 2000/01 season. He played for the ZSC Lions for 4 seasons (2005-2009) before moving back to the HCD. After 9 more years in Landwassertal, Forster moved to Biel in 2017.

6 championship titles

In total he won 6 Swiss championship titles (5 with Davos, 1 with the Lions). Last season he made a significant contribution to Biel’s runner-up title. Forster will remain with the Zealanders after his active career. The EHCB did not say which role he would take on.

Forster wore the Swiss national team jersey 109 times between 2002 and 2009. “With a smile that inspired generations of fans, Beat Forster achieved everything there was to win in Swiss ice hockey,” Biel praised the veteran.
