Justice extended Monday by six months the detention of Cédric Jubillar, suspected of having killed his wife, Delphine, who disappeared at the end of 2020 in the Tarn, and imprisoned for a year near Toulouse. His lawyers immediately announced that they were appealing the decision of the judge of freedoms and detention (JLD) of the judicial court of Toulouse.
“Justice decided to extend the detention of Cédric Jubillar considering that there were still investigations to be carried out,” said Alexandre Martin, Cédric Jubillar’s lawyer, after learning of the judge’s decision. Delphine Jubillar, 33, a nurse in a clinic in Albi, was last seen on the evening of December 15, 2020, in her house in Cagnac-les-Mines, the village near Albi where she lived with her husband. and her two children.
Ten days to appeal
Her husband reported her missing the following day at dawn. He claims his innocence, but after six months of investigation, he was indicted for intentional homicide and imprisoned on June 18, 2021. After a year of detention, the JLD had to decide on his continued imprisonment, while the Cédric Jubillar’s lawyers pleaded for his release on Thursday, during a closed-door hearing.
His lawyer Emmanuelle Franck describes “a crushed Cédric Jubillar, by a judicial gear, a judicial machine, who incarcerates first and thinks afterwards”. His counsel have ten days to formally appeal.
