In a tweet published on February 14the government was reassuring about this possible brake: “ France Identity was designed so that your identity data is not stored on a server. They are stored only in the application. The application is completely at your fingertips to allow you to keep control of your data. » In short, your driving license, like your identity card, is not located on servers accessible from the smartphone. Certain information can still be seen by authorized agents of the services of the general secretariat of the MI (France Digital Identity program) and those of the ANTS in certain processing operations.

Beyond the question of personal data protection, storing the two identity documents on a server rather than on the smartphone would make no sense in terms of use. What should I do if I lose my smartphone or have it stolen? All you need to do is delete your France Identity account to protect your data, knowing that they rely on other barriers linked to the telephone (lock code, biometric protection, etc.).
