Opponents of the corona measures storm the clinic premises

Thousands of people are again demonstrating nationwide against the measures to contain the corona pandemic. In many places it remains peaceful. In Leipzig, however, some protesters hope to evade the police – and storm onto a clinic site.
Dozens of opponents of the Corona measures stormed the grounds of the University Hospital (UKL) in Leipzig during one of their protest marches, which they declared as “walks”. According to a police spokeswoman, the protest march of “several hundred” people began in the afternoon near the Monument to the Battle of the Nations and was then stopped by the police near the psychiatric clinic. There, dozens of people stormed onto the premises of the psychiatric clinic belonging to the UKL – presumably in the hope of escaping the police encirclement.
Videos posted on Twitter showed some police officers at the gate to the compound still trying in vain to hold back the crowd. But they were obviously not up to the onslaught. According to the police spokeswoman, the police determined the identity of the intruders for possible criminal investigations. The remaining “walkers” were allowed to go after an identity check.
4500 demonstrators in Freiburg
In other cities in Germany, too, people demonstrated again against the Corona policy. In Freiburg in Baden-Württemberg alone, according to initial police estimates, around 4,500 people took part in a demonstration to protest against compulsory vaccination and measures to contain the pandemic. The organizer had expected around 7,000 participants. A police spokesman said there were no significant incidents. Counter-demonstrators tried to block the route of the demo with bicycles.
In Brandenburg an der Havel, the police broke up an unregistered demonstration against the Corona policy. Before the meeting, it had become known that a “walk” had been called again without registering it with the meeting authority, as the West Police Department announced. The identities of participants were determined in order to create reports of administrative offenses. These concerned, for example, participation in an unauthorized assembly and violations of the corona restrictions, for example if the mask requirement was disregarded.
In Schwerin in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, several hundred people demonstrated against corona restrictions. At the top, around 900 people took part in the meeting with a critical connection to the Corona measures, according to the police.
