Denmark: three years in prison for an Islamic State “housewife”


A 35-year-old Danish woman was sentenced Friday, November 18 to three years in prison for entering a conflict zone in Syria and encouraging the activities of the jihadist organization Islamic State (IS), announced Danish justice.

Prosecuted for “promotion of terrorist activities” and “entry and residence in a conflict zone“, the young woman, who admitted the facts, was condemned for”having facilitated the activities of ISIS, in particular by acting as a housewife and wife of a person active in the terrorist organization“, said the prosecution in a press release. During the trial, the prosecutor had indicated that housewives were an essential part of IS.
