January 8 (Reuters) – Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, announced Friday evening the departure of its communications director, John Pinette, who will be replaced on an interim basis by Chris Norton, vice president in charge of the group’s communications at an international level.

“John Pinette has left Meta. We are grateful for his positive contributions during an intense and significant time in the company’s history, and we wish him good luck for the future,” the social network wrote in a communicated.

Solicited, a spokesperson for Meta declined to specify the reasons for the departure of John Pinette, who had been appointed vice president of global communications in April 2019, according to the group’s website. (Jahnavi Nidumoulu report in Bangalore; French version Claude Chendjou)
