Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s This Morning replacements announced

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are on a well earned break from This Morning following their stint hosting the show every weekday during the coronavirus lockdown.

The presenting duo were classed as key workers and allowed to be in the studios to bring viewers daily news and updates regarding the pandemic, as well as lighthearted entertainment to keep moods up.

And now the pair have finished for the summer and will not be returning until September with their replacements announced as Ruth Langsford and husband Eamonn Holmes.

Holly and Phil said their farewell on Friday 10 July, bringing in an ice cream van as well as being joined by chef John Torode and fellow presenter Alison Hammond.

They also looked back on their best bits from September 2019 up until July, featuring all sorts of funny antics as well as Phillip’s emotional coming out interview.

Now the presenters, who are also best pals, are handing over the baton to married duo Ruth and Eamonn who presented the Friday edition of the daily show before the country went into lockdown.

Before the end of Friday’s show, Phillip said their viewers will be in good hands with Eamonn and Ruth, who will be hosting the magazine show Monday to Thursday in the school holiday.

Every Friday guest presenters will take their spots, who have previously included Rochelle and Marvin Humes, Rylan Clark-Neal and his husband Dan Clark, as well as Davina McCall.

ITV are yet to confirm any presenters who will be filling the Friday slot, but it’s likely to be faces familiar with regular ITV viewers.

The final episode for Holly and Phil began pretty upbeat, as Holly drove into the studio inside an ice cream van and promptly served Phil an enormous cone.

But then later in the episode mum of three Holly was left unimpressed during a video interview with F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, 89, and his wife Fabiana Flosi, 41, who gave birth to his son Ace earlier this month.

The dad to daughters Deborah, 65, Tamara, 36, and Petra, 31, said he wouldn’t be changing his baby son’s nappies because “that’s what wives are for”.

During the “car crash” interview Fabiana explained that while Bernie isn’t necessarily a hands-on father, he does help with looking after their newborn.

She said: “He helps, and he looks after him – he’s a special person and we are super happy.”

Phil then asked: “So Bernie do you do the nappies then? Do you do the night time feeds?” to which the businessman giggled, “No.”

Laughing, 39 year old Holly said: “Hands on, except for that bit.”

The dad of four continued much to Phil and Holly’s shock: “Exactly. I do whatever is necessary when it’s necessary. At the moment it’s not necessary, that’s what wives are for.”

Phillip looked away as he said, “Oh, there you go, that’s going to be controversial Bernie…” while Holly pursed her lips in complete disapproval as she attempted to keep calm.

However, the new dad brushed off his comment as he replied: “Most things I say seem to be.”
